It has been a while since the last update. There’s been a lot of new stuff that has surfaced lately, as well as new projects that are being worked on.
Let me start off by giving a brief synopsis of the new completed projects.
Anthony Jackson presents the Individual Rappers:
Anthony sent to a select group of people, including members of Forty Psychic Frames, the Individual Rappers CD.He has also given out a public link for any listeners interested in hearing the album online. In case you have missed this link it is: http://www.40pf.com/individual/
I was able to catch up with Anthony the other day and he said that he was happy with the response the album had received.
New Tracks from Scurvy D’s Death of a Salesman:
I think this qualifies as being on the completed list because “Bi-Polarity” is the first completed track in years that has had Forrest Jameson. Not only that, but this is the first track ever to have just Scurvy D, Anthony, and Forrest. While he was working on this track, Scurvy D has managed to drop “Must”, which from what I can tell, is the closure track for Death of a Salesman, and Anthony was able to mix down a Baird recording that Scurvy made which is the title track for the album. I for one can’t wait to hear the completed album
Wyatt Furtherton – “Tree Flavored Cheese That Tastes Like Weed”:
It seems like you can’t stop Wyatt from doing something, or planning on doing something, crazy during Christmas. Last year we were treated to a track titled “Tree Flavored Cheese That Tastes Like Weed“. It sounds like an Off the Cuff performance that was half-written/half-improved, which came out great IMO.
Forty Psychic Forums:
If you haven’t been here in a while, you may notice the comic bubble in the upper right corner. Clicking on this will allow you to interact with the Forty Psychic Frames. The launch of the Forty Psychic Forums has allowed us to share and express ideas. It has allowed the public to view our ideas or put their two cents in. Shout out to Fambrough and Shaded. Check us out!!!
Wyatt Furtherton – Please Please Please (One Cigarette) Music Video:
After nabbing a copy of Wyatt’s Unknown Circuitry E.P., Anthony began listening to it repeatedly. He told Shelia Root during an exclusive KTOR interview, “I was wasted and passed out with my headphones on and that one cigarette song came on. I had a dream about weddings and war. I woke up and got to work on this music video”.Anthony used old Super 8 film he found at a yard sale in Sacramento and spliced it together to create the video below.
While we have completed some projects, we are still all over the place when it comes to our “In Progress Projects”. I don’t want to give away too much away on these, but at the same time I want to give you some insight as to what we are up to. These projects include:
Forrest Jameson’s Ad Libitum Avenue:
Forrest has been hard at work developing Ad Libitum Avenue, the newest installment of the Forty Psychic Freestyle Series. With his Olympus recorder, Forrest freestyles while driving in his Nighthawk. Two tracks, Right of Way and Middle Finger Turn Signal, were dropped recently and it seems like everyone is pretty excited about this project. Be sure to expect fellow members of 40PF to free flow in the passenger seat on some upcoming tracks.
Stories:
The Gamemaster’s Lounge has spawned some stories that are currently being worked on.
They are:
Merchandise line:
The 40PF Merchandise line has started. You can find official clothes and accessories of your favorite members. Check it out here.
The Sandwich Shop:
Episode one of a series of the show The Sandwich Shop has appeared by Wyatt Furtherton. General consensus says that the show has great potential. Hopefully we will hear more episodes soon. You can listen to the first episode here.
Kicking Back With Cadillac Jack:
Cadillac Jack is back, and this time he’s crusin’ the mean streets of Miami. Without his KTOR companion, the Otter, we can expect Jack to battle road rage, interview some crazies, and give those retirees the finger. Hey!
Psychic Frame of Mind:
A recent board has been launched under the Forty Psychic Forums that was proposed by DJ D. This board, the Psychic Frame of Mind, will allow members of the group to express what’s going down with them. Or in DJ D’s world we’ll witness the “Worldly Thoughts by DJ D”.
Untitled Wyatt Furtherton Album:
This mysterious album is currently in production. Since it seems like everyone’s favorite robot is keeping this project under wraps, there is only a limited amount of information about it, which can be found on the Untitled Wyatt Furtherton Album Wiki page an in Wyatt Furtherton’s Official Blog.
Wyatt Futherton and Forrest Jameson: Fridge Full of Pabst Revisited:
Anthony Jackson is currently compiling some outtakes and drunken freestyles of the 40PF kings Wyatt and Forrest. Stay tuned. Hilarity ensues.
Anthony Jackson’s Fully Loaded and Ready to Blow:
The album is still in production. Anthony has been working with Forrest on a track tentatively titled “Maxxx Manetti: The Naked Detective“. After this track is completed, Anthony will try to team up with Chesterfield “Xplicit/Ryan Sherwood” Harrington to create a true Anthony/Xplicit track.
New Forty Psychic Frames Album (we’re serious this time aren’t we?): The Frames have been working on some material for a new album. Wyatt has been creating beats like crazy, while the rest of the members have been putting the pen to paper so to speak.
The Raleigh Crew’s “What it Takes”:
With the addition of Wyatt Furtherton, the Raleigh Crew have been working on a couple tracks. One, titled “What it Takes”, has been demoed in rough form and listened to by some members of the group.
The Nerds Series gets 2 new episodes:
The Nerds Series, which debuted on The Forrest and DJ D Variety Hours, just got two new episodes. Download them here. Be sure to look for more because I’m sure these little guys are scheming.
We just received this song from MikeyLikes72 who apparently was an assistant engineer that worked on the album Anthony was putting together in May. Anthony is going to be pissed!
So I’ve been working on this track for a while with my boy Phoney Tap. He been teaching me how to sing though producer trickery. It’s like black magic. Mad Magic. Anyway that’s alright with me cause I can’t carry any notes.
So I did somethin that I hate doin and that’s a radio edit. I never do that shit. We always would just let the DJs or the label take care of cutting out and bleeping the bad shit, but I thought the single would be chopped up too much for radio. So I did “Make My Enchilada”. It’s so ridiculous that it sounds like your boy AJ doin an impression of Weird Al doin an impression of AJ. But I made it past the censors. I still got ridiculed for it being too demanding towards women. I can’t even please these fools with a radio edit. Oh well. Here it is recorded off a station out here.
The front cover of the album is finalized and the album will hopefully be ready in the winter sometime. I don’t want to sit on this one forever cause I’m eager to be collaborating on other projects and looking forward to the possiblitiy of a new 40PF album. But I don’t wanna rush it either.
I should have another track of the album up soon. It’s called “Dawg the Booty Hunter” and I’m workin with my boy Phoney Tap who worked with me on the production of that Individual Rapper album. Anyway, it seems like it’s taking too long, but we’re fuckin around and tryin new things.
After I get this one done I’m gonna start to work with my man Forrest J on this Manetti-type song. I hear he is done with writing, and from what I heard on a phone message it sounds good. Real good. I’m done with my part finally so we’ll see what happens.
1. “(I’d Never Crush) Someone Like You”Single – It came about very quickly and work has slowed within the last month but the final version of the song is nearing completion. I’m mostly procrastinating but I still need takes from a couple of members to deliver. Pending their arrival this track should prove to be an exciting listen.
2. New Wyatt Solo Album – I’ve been thinking about the new Wyatt album for so long-since I finished Unknown Circuitry-that until recently I had run myself into the ground and could not get back up. Since I did “Someone Like You” I’ve been flooded with ideas. Many elements I envisioned while in Asheville a couple of years ago will remain intact including notably the central concept of the album (“girls”), but also one song which has held fast and provided something to fall back on when I become restless with what direction I should be moving towards. Perhaps the most important announcement is that it will be co-produced by my drinking buddy and producer extraordiaire Ear Infections (Nights in Washington County; see wiki). It’s turning out to be a great collaboration as we are constantly feeding each other with different ideas and the album is going in directions I hadn’t expected. Recently he was interviewed on a local college radio show at three something in the morning regarding our collaboration and I recorded it and posted it below. It’s a lot of fun right now and I can’t wait for the rest of 40PF to the final version. (For more information on Wyatt’s solo album progress check the Wyatt Wyatt Wyatt!!! blog.)
Xplicit’s New Solo Album – While it hasn’t been announced officially there has been much in-group discussion regarding a true solo album from Xplicit. In our discussions he has asked for help finding beats to use and asked me personally to try and develop some beats for him as a springboard for starting and establishing a direction for the album. From everything we’ve talked about it sounds ambitious and complex and with his lyrics and delivery I know that the final product will be amazing
Solo Album by Forrest Jameson – Though it’s still in the brainstorming stages I’ve been commissioned for one song that has already been written and it’s concept already in place. I really hope that we can get it all done because the scope of the album as Forrest describes it will be unlike any other 40PF release. It’s a really exciting time right now, I can’t stress that enough.
DJ D – “It’s the Dizzump” (Solo Single?) – While most of us have all been mired in solo and various group projects and ideas DJ D has been very quiet. So when Forrest, Xplicit, Scurvy D and I came up with this concept for DJ D while getting beer at a grocery store a few weeks ago I felt like this song had to be made and that it would be an standout song in the hands of The Dizzump. Production has already started and a beat should be ready for recording in about a week.
4. Miscellaneous Projects
“Burn One For the Nation” – At a group get-together this past week Forrest and I discussed the ideas of making a tribute song to cigarettes, tobacco, and tobacco related products based on a choral phrase that had been stuck in my head for over a year and one that I sing to myself sometimes as people announce when they’re going outside to smoke a cigarette. Drugs and alcohol are common staples in most of rock and hip-hop music including that of 40PF’s but cigarettes are often overlooked as devices or activities that are frequently used in day-to-day life and during recording. Forrest and I hope to get all the former and current tobacco users in the group to deliver a track loosely based on this concept, which to my estimate includes everyone except Poody and B-Lush. Production should start today and possibly into next week.
Another “The Shit (Remix)” – I don’t know. I was just messing around with something and I thought I might actually try and make a good remix. We’ll see. Don’t get your hopes up.
Retooling “Bro (The Epic)” From Sleepaway Records Album Demo – Now that everyone has conclusively heard all of the songs on the Sleepaway Demo there’s been talk about what happened, why it happened, what do people think of the album, what do people think of certain songs, why the fuck this and why the fuck that. My general opinion of the album itself hasn’t really changed (and I won’t discuss that here) except for this one track which I believe only needs some minor touch ups in the beat to tighten it up. Work on this is still tentative.
New 40PF Album ? – Unlike everything else I’ve listed here, this item has not been discussed nor touched on except maybe with Forrest when we were drunk. I can’t remember. This is more or less a question to the group and one I feel like I already know the answer to. I hope I’m right.
That’s a lot of work and I’m so excited that I can’t stand it. Can you?
So I was flippin through the TV the other day trying to catch something good on. I hit the porno flick block of channels like Spice and Club Jenna. I was looking at the names of all of these pornos and I gotta tell ya I became inspired.
I decided to put together a new EP. The true follow up to Satisfaction. This EP is gonna be called “Fully Loaded and Ready to Blow” which is like a double meaning: it could be a cool drunk chick or, you know, my wang. Anyways the CD is gonna consist of about five or six tracks with porno names straight from the TV. And I gotta tell ya all the research I’ve been doing for this has been pretty fun.
I dug this up the other day. I think Wyatt made this one using some beer website. If I had a guess it would be Budweiser, but I don’t think Wyatt drinks bud.
This one’s for you Suge.
He got his ass kicked outside some random nightclub.
I wanted to share this with everyone. I found this the other day and I redid it a little. I cut out parts that weren’t ours and kind of merged it all together. It ain’t perfect by any means, but you can shut the fuck up.
We thought they may have been gone for good. Anthony Jackson left for the west coast, Wyatt Furtherton moved back east to rejoin the “Raleigh Crew”, and Scurvy D remained in Asheville, NC. Separated by distance, it seemed the likelihood of a reunion was impossible. Then, on web browsers around the country, an address surfaced: 40PF.com. Anthony had revived the Forty Psychic Frames official website.
Rumor has it that Wyatt has been working hard on brand new beats and meeting with Forrest Jameson on a regular basis to discuss ideas. When asked about the validity of the rumors, Jameson told us, “Look. I’ve been writing new material like a madman. Wyatt’s been cranking out some really ambitious instrumentals. Anthony and I have been working like crazy on the website. You should see how fast the Wiki is growing. Honestly, if all of that doesn’t tell you something, I don’t know what will.”
I caught Anthony Jackson on the steps of the courthouse, walking away victorious from his court case against Paradise Records. His latest venture, Anthony Jackson and The Individual Rappers, was a flop, largely due to Paradise’s treatment of the first single We Be The Best. Jackson brought the issue to the courts and ended up with a decisive win, granting him one million dollars along with the master tracks of the album. ”I’m lookin’ forward now, ya know? Past is past,” Jackson stated. “I’ll see what I can do about this [album] and move on.”
When asked about the resurrection of 40PF, Jackson seemed excited. “We never went away, man,” he said with a big smile. “And if you think we did, well…we back. Me and Forrest already recorded verses for a new song and sent ‘em to Wyatt. You gotta hear this thing…it’s gonna be tight. See? Don’t matter that I’m on the west coast. Distance ain’t shit.”
It has been reported that Scurvy D, who has been performing live at several No Shame shows in Asheville, has been communicating regularly with the other members of the group. DJ Dizzump and Xplicit, always prepared to step up to the plate, have expressed interest in getting behind the mic on a 40PF track once again. Poody, who is also currently located in Asheville, wasn’t available to offer his thoughts. It is, as of now, unknown whether or not he will be returning. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed.
All things considered, I think it’s safe to say that the heart of Forty Psychic Frames is beating strong again. It has been a long, bumpy road since their formation in 2003. But I’m pretty sure the guys would agree with me when I say that the future looks bright.
